I was watching another tutorial video by James Julier on sea sunsets . I was inspired to make my own, based on an old photo — I can’t place exactly where the original was, but it was a rocky beach, somewhere on the west coast near Santa Cruz. The project post gives more info and intermediate steps.
I watched and followed part of a tutorial on YouTube, from James Julier, on painting a digital landscape of trees with mountains in background.
